ABOLabs FAQ
About ABOLabs & Who We Serve
Behind every blood draw is a person, a schedule, a care plan, and sometimes a little bit of anxiety. ABOLabs brings a calm, prepared, and people-first approach to phlebotomy so patients and care teams feel supported from scheduling through collection.
What is ABOLabs?
About UsABOLabs is a Colorado-based mobile and in-office phlebotomy service that helps make lab collection easier, more comfortable, and more convenient. We are not a diagnostic laboratory; we specialize in professional blood draws, specialty kit collections, specimen handling support, and coordination with the lab or provider connected to your order. Our team serves patients who need lab work completed without the stress of a traditional lab visit, including busy families, seniors, homebound patients, and clients using specialty or direct-to-consumer testing options.
Who does ABOLabs serve?

ABOLabs serves individuals, families, clinics, senior living communities, and specialty lab kit clients across Colorado and select surrounding areas. Our services are helpful for patients with mobility challenges, busy schedules, transportation barriers, needle anxiety, or complex lab collection needs. We also support physician offices, concierge care teams, assisted living facilities, clinical research partners, and wellness-focused providers who need reliable phlebotomy support without adding extra strain to their staff or patients.
Do you offer both mobile and in-office blood draws?

Yes. ABOLabs offers both mobile phlebotomy appointments and in-office blood draws at our Northglenn location. Mobile appointments are designed for clients who prefer to have lab collection completed at home, work, senior living communities, or approved care settings. In-office draws may be a convenient option for nearby clients who do not need travel support but still want a more personal, scheduled experience than a crowded walk-in lab. Availability may vary by service type, location, and specimen requirements.
Pricing & Insurance
We believe clients should understand what they are paying for before they schedule. This section explains how ABOLabs handles self-pay service fees, mobile draw pricing, and the difference between lab testing costs and phlebotomy collection fees.
Does ABOLabs bill insurance?

ABOLabs is a self-pay service and does not bill insurance directly for mobile or in-office phlebotomy fees. Most insurance plans, including Medicare, do not treat mobile draw fees as a standard reimbursable laboratory charge. Your lab testing itself may still be billed separately by the ordering lab, provider, or third-party testing company, depending on your order. ABOLabs’ fee covers the collection service, travel when applicable, supplies, scheduling, specimen handling support, and the convenience of having a trained phlebotomy professional come to you.
Why is there a separate mobile phlebotomy draw fee?
More InfoA mobile phlebotomy draw fee covers more than the blood draw itself. It helps support travel time, fuel, scheduling, professional supplies, biohazard handling, specimen labeling, mobile equipment, insurance, staff training, and the time needed to safely complete and prepare your collection. For specialty kits, additional handling steps may also be required, such as centrifuging, temperature control, packaging, or shipping coordination. ABOLabs keeps this fee separate so clients can clearly understand what they are paying for.
How much does a mobile blood draw cost?

Mobile blood draw pricing depends on your location, service type, number of patients, specimen requirements, and whether specialty handling is needed. ABOLabs offers in-office draws at our Northglenn location and mobile services throughout the Denver Metro area, with expanded service available in select mountain, rural, and regional Colorado communities. Because travel and kit requirements can vary, the best way to confirm pricing is to request an appointment or contact ABOLabs directly with your location, lab order, and collection details.
Appointments, Lab Orders & Specialty Kits
A little preparation helps your appointment go smoothly. This section covers lab orders, specialty kit collections, and what patients can expect before, during, and after a phlebotomy visit.
Do I need a doctor’s order for a blood draw?

Some lab collections require a provider’s order, while others may be available through direct-to-consumer or specialty testing programs. If your physician, clinic, or lab company has already provided an order or kit, ABOLabs can review the collection requirements before scheduling. For direct-to-consumer testing, patients may be able to order certain lab panels without a traditional provider visit, depending on the lab platform. When in doubt, send us the order or kit instructions first so we can confirm whether the draw can be completed safely and correctly.
Can ABOLabs collect specialty lab kits?

Yes. ABOLabs regularly supports specialty lab kit collections, including wellness panels, hormone testing, genetic kits, fertility-related testing, nutrition panels, and other third-party laboratory kits. Specialty kits often have specific instructions for tubes, timing, centrifuging, freezing, refrigeration, packaging, or shipping. Before your appointment, we may ask for photos of the kit instructions, requisition form, tubes, and shipping materials. This helps our team verify that the collection can be completed properly and avoid delays or rejected specimens.
What should I expect during a mobile phlebotomy appointment?

During a mobile phlebotomy appointment, an ABOLabs phlebotomy professional arrives at the scheduled location, confirms your identity, reviews the lab order or kit instructions, and completes the blood draw using standard safety and infection-control practices. After collection, specimens are labeled and prepared according to the lab’s requirements. Depending on your order, samples may be processed, packaged, delivered, or shipped as directed. We recommend having your ID, lab paperwork, kit materials, and any provider instructions ready before the visit.
