National Public Health Week 2026: Why Lab Access Matters

From April 6–12, 2026, communities across the country will recognize National Public Health Week, led by the American Public Health Association. This year’s theme, “Ready. Set. Action!”, focuses on building healthier communities through prevention, science, leadership, and access.

At ABOLabs, that message hits close to home.

Public health is not only about hospitals, agencies, or large systems. It is also about helping people actually complete the care they need. That includes preventive testing, chronic condition monitoring, and reducing the everyday barriers that keep people from following through.

That is where mobile phlebotomy can help.

Many people delay lab work because life gets in the way. Transportation, mobility issues, busy schedules, caregiving demands, bad weather, and distance can all make a simple blood draw harder than it should be. In Colorado, those barriers are real, especially for rural residents, older adults, and patients with limited mobility.

When lab work is easier to access, patients are more likely to stay on top of their health.

ABOLabs helps bridge that gap by bringing professional mobile phlebotomy services directly to patients. Whether someone is at home, in an assisted living setting, at work, or in a provider office, easier access can make a real difference in getting ordered labs completed on time.

That matters because preventive care matters. Early testing and routine monitoring can support better conversations with providers, earlier detection, and more consistent follow-through.

National Public Health Week is a good reminder that healthier communities are built through practical action. Sometimes that action is policy. Sometimes it is research. And sometimes it is simply making healthcare easier to reach.

At ABOLabs, we are proud to support Colorado communities by helping make lab access more convenient, more flexible, and more patient-centered.

This National Public Health Week, if you or someone you care for needs a more convenient way to complete ordered lab work, ABOLabs is here to help.
